Roommate doesn’t care about COVID, really annoying me
This past weekend my roommate went to a casino in Rhode Island on Friday, his friend’s party at some house on Saturday, and got brunch today (inside) with a group of five others. He has me blocked on all social media, and I only know he is going to these heavily populated events through listening in on his FaceTime calls. I’ve had enough of his blatant disregard for the rules. Should I call the tip line? Talk to my RA? Or just record him next time he FaceTime’s his Highschool friends to “brag” about going gambling & to parties.
About 1 & 1/2 years ago, I was sitting at a poker table at Twin Rivers Casino in Rhode Island. I don’t remember how the conversation started, but we began discussing investments. The discussion was mainly focused around crypto currencies. Bitcoin was the center of discussion. At that time I heard of Bitcoin but knew nothing else about it nor did I even have a conception of what crypto currency was all about. However, I did make notes. I scribbled down Bitcoin, XRP and several others. Eventually, someone sitting opposite me, as he was raking in this massive pot, looked at me and said “Have you ever heard of Microvision?” I listened to him half heartedly as he talked about it though it did sound interesting. I’ve been in this situation before, someone tells you about a real hot tip then you go invest a little money and end up losing all your money. I did that with a company that made sneakers for women called “Ryka”, ever hear of it? Anyway I jotted down MVIS... I later did some considerable research on crypto’s. I became a bit of an expert on Bitcoin and XRP. The more I learned the more I was sure that kind of investment wasn’t for me. I moved on and began researching this company called MicroVision. The more I read the more I started to believe that this company might have something. What I saw was a company that had a very cool technology that initially was ahead of its time. But at this time, now, in 2018, it appeared to me that a broad market was beginning to open up for this kind of technology. As I read more and more the more I was convinced. When I happened upon MVIS, the doors opened up. I found a dedicated group of people that have been following this company for years. I was amazed by how much information you all gathered. It was like having a window into the business that only insiders would normally have any information about. I just wanted to thank all you long time regulars including Peter and his blog. How many years has he held true to that blog?! It actually feels unfair that I got in now, right at the cusp. I owe all you guys for that including the mysterious poker player. Hell, I just now met Alexander Tokeman for the first time: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7MQtsuj1y-I&autoplay=1 GLTAL
Hello, Played a small session last night at my local casino in Rhode Island, played what I felt was a weird hand but wanted to share to see if I did what I could or if there was other options. Sat down at a 1/2 table, this hand occurred within the first 10 hands that I played. The main villain in the hand, I got the sense that was kinda LAG but looked like he knew for the most part what he was doing and not a typical fish. . 8 player table Hero is has a stack of$ 290, hero has villain cover but he has about $270 Hero is in the cut off and looks at KhJh. Couple of limpers, Villain raises to 12 UTG +4/ middle position. Hero calls 12, everyone folds. (Pot $28) Flop: Ah 9c 9H. Villain goes first and he checks, Hero bets $20, Villain calls. (Pot $68) Turn 6d. Villain checks, Hero checks back. (Pot $68) River 3c Villain bets 25, Hero folds. Pretty much my questions are at the turn an the river. Do you guys think I should of taken another route or do you think at the 1/2 level this was just fine.
I owe my job $1400...just so I can continue to work my next shift.
I work at a very tiny casino in Rhode Island and it is run like shit by the RI Lottery. I'm a cashier and every single day I'm responsible for close to $200,000 per shift. Recently someone was caught stealing from their drawer and now we have all these ridiculous rules that makes our job even more demanding than it already is with the long lines and the angry guests and the high volumes of cash and chips that flow through. Last night at 3 am 2 cashiers closed down leaving me with the Saturday night crowd all by myself. I couldn't even see the end of the line. I went at my normal pace but was still getting a bit flustered as I usually do when this happens. After the other 2 cashiers finished opening their windows I closed mine and when adding up my total I came up exactly $1400 short. I knew I was screwed. We ran through the normal routine. Check the chips, cash and paperwork. Nothing. Now when I go into work tomorrow I will get the slip the that says I'm $1400 short and I will have to sign it. The shift after that I will need to pay the $1400 before I can even clock in. I don't mean to make this my sob story for you folks but I've seen my friends get fired for this. They don't give you enough time to get the money to pay it back and don't even let you work so you can get the money to pay them. You either need to have a rich relative or lose your job. No payment plans or anything. Just fuck you to the employee's. Well fuck you Rhode Island lottery...whoever the fuck you are.
Any information about The Townhouse Casino in Cumberland, RI?
Hello all! I am hoping that someone can help me track down some information about an old casino in Rhode Island. It was probably in operation in the 1950s or 1960s. My family seems to remember that it was called The Townhouse, and it may have been in Cumberland or Woonsocket. I have come up with very little based on my google searches, but I figure there might be someone with better search habits, or even personal memories of this place. If you have any information, or can point me in the right direction, I would be so very grateful. Thanks!!
